Aloha Friday Photo: Kilauea Fountain Eruption

Mahalo to Erin Markson for sharing this gorgeous Aloha Friday Photo.

Erin captured this photograph on Might sixth throughout Kilauea’s 20th episode of this on-again-off-again eruption part. The primary episode of those unbelievable lava fountains began December 23, 2024 in Halemaumau crater inside Hawaii Volcanoes Nationwide Park. The fountains have been reaching heights of nicely over 500 toes (150 meters).

Erin advised us that she’s been ready/making an attempt for over 20 years to witness an eruption. Her persistence was lastly rewarded by this spectacular exercise. She even braved chilly, windy and wet circumstances to see it.

For extra info on this present eruption part, see this link and to play a go to to probably view this spectacle, see this link.

To test in on the livestream to see what the volcano is doing, try the V1 cam or the V2 cam YouTube channels. I observed some low, intermittent fountaining and lava circulate this morning on the V1 cam. That kind of exercise has normally been a precursor for a bigger fountain occasion.

The lava exercise has been confined to Kilauea’s summit caldera in Hawaii Volcanoes Nationwide Park. It’s not posing a hazard to properties.

Blissful Aloha Friday!
